About me

The first time I was on the internet was in 1999, I believe it was with my cousin where we went to an Internet cafe in the Rashid Mall at Khobar. Internet in Saudi Arabia began unofficially in 1994, with Sahara.com registering their first domain via an American company. By 1997, however, it was officially intorduced and the numbers of users there were about 9500. In my home, internet was introduced in 2001, where I started accessing it using dialup cards that we purchased in stores. By 2003, Satellite internet was also introduced, when my dad subscribed to a DSL 256 via Orbit network satellite Internet. It was magical, as I was able.

Little bit of info about me . My name is Khalid (though I go with Michael when I was in the states as well). I have been living between Saudi Arabia and the United States between 2006 and 2023 which helped me to expand my horizon. I have been licenced as a Ham Radio Operator in 2025. The reason for my journey to Ham radio started with the Walking Dead. while watching it again in 2024, I noticed Eugane was able to use radio to restore communication between two communities. This made me ask myself one simple question .. "What in the name of hell is a radio?" I mean, I know what is a radio, it just never occur to me the mechanism behind it, which i sought to understand moving forward. This led me to want to become a Ham Radio Operator.

Another side of me is my passion to preserving hisory, which is probably why I am here to begin with. I own @Qadsiyah channel, which is one of the oldest youtube channels specializing in archiving Qadsiah and Saudi Arabian football (soccer) games. I strated migrating some of my work to archive.org in order to include old newspapers and to increase the digital blueprint of my work.
